No words would be uttered by either of them, only sitting like that, letting the comfortable silence cloak over them. It was something he’d only feel when spending his time with his sibling, the blond had noticed. Although throughout his many years of living, he had realized that he had never told Kasuka some words that meant a lot to another person; He never told him that he cared about him.

                      He had the younger go through a lot because of him; He had almost hit him with a refrigerator, he was the one to always take him at the hospital whenever he injured himself, he was the only one to be there for him, and Shizuo was grateful for that; For having someone care for him, even though he was a monster. His brother’s voice was what had captured his attention, optics staring into twin ones as a smile decorated the blond’s visage.

                         ”Kasuka… I—-” Even Ikebukuro’s Beast would hesitate when it came to saying such words. Being his first time he’d actually admit such things. Who would’ve thought that saying those words would actually be like a challenge? “I care about you.” That wasn’t what he truly wanted to say. Expressing it was indeed hard, yet his choice of words in the beginning were different from the one he had used.

    It was difficult not to know that he was cared for and loved, when it came to Shizuo. The concern that the elder had over Kasuka’s health (and wondering if he’d been hurt, when he had been angry) was a telling sign, and his worrying over whether or not Kasuka feared him just cemented that. Even if it had never actually been said before, it was things like that and times such as this that gave it away and the actor was more than content with the knowledge and didn’t think he had a need for it to actually be said out loud. The closeness between them even now, years and years after childhood, was a dead giveaway to anyone.

    Of course Kasuka regarded his brother in the same way. Even when the refrigerator had been pointing at him that first time, there had been no fear (just pudding and wow, Nii-san is kind of cool), and after that, all the times he had had to call an ambulance… Well, he had hoped his actions spoke for themselves, since he had cared for the other wholeheartedly. It was just a matter of finding different ways to put that across, rather than saying it straight out.

    When it was said, he would have nodded, if it wouldn’t have dislodged the pressing of their foreheads against one another’s. Instead he just hummed, then said, “I know,” as though what he had just been told was the most obvious thing in the universe. “I care about you too, Nii-san.” It was impossible for him not to, and there would not be a day where he didn’t.
