Our muses are destined to fall in love on their daily commute
The most that Kasuka could guess was that he’s a doctor.
Of course, the fact that he wore a white coat and suit underneath practically gave that away, though for all the talent knew, it could just be that he enjoyed wearing clothes like that, for whatever reason. Maybe he actually just liked dressing up, rather than actually being the profession he looked like. It wouldn’t be the first time someone did that.
But he doubted that was true. He was a doctor, and that was all Kasuka would believe.
Every day when he got on the train to travel to the agency, the man would be there, sat in the same place and dressed in the same coat, doing various different tasks or just staring out at nothing. Every day Kasuka would notice him and end up watching him, even when he tried not to.
At first he didn’t really see the man, instead keeping his head ducked as a way to keep himself unrecognisable. Then he would look up once he felt it safe, and eventually his gaze would always be dragged back to the other and he was helpless against himself. No matter if he tried to look away, always he would find himself looking back once more.
Without realising it, Kasuka had developed a crush.
It wasn’t as though he knew anything about the man, minus his looks and perhaps the type of book that he read or the newspaper he would bring on board. But he couldn’t help it. A strange, fluttering feeling would attack his chest whenever he saw the man again, and it was embarrassing to think that he had developed what felt like a childish feeling on someone he didn’t even know.
But then he would look up and that thought would be brushed away and it wouldn’t matter anymore, and he’d fall into that crush all over again.
Kasuka’s stop was one after his, and usually he would watch him leave and then turn back in his seat and slump over at his cowardice. Once more he hadn’t tried to talk to him, practically nailing himself to his seat again and carrying on the same routine.
Today was different, though. It wasn’t as if he was leaving soon or there was something pushing him towards the man as though it was his last chance. All that it was, was that he had finally plucked up whatever courage he had.
Before they reached the other’s stop, Kasuka pushed himself up from his seat, taking careful, short steps over to where he sat and standing in front of him, careful not to trip up at the careful rocking of the train. When he stopped in front of him, he looked up and smiled, and Kasuka couldn’t tell if it was happy or confused or anything else, too caught up in his nerves.
After breathing in carefully, he blurted out, “Would you like to go for a drink or something to eat or.. anything with me some time?”
The reply was prompt, and decidedly less nervous than his question and infinitely more cheerful, “Do you mean on a date?”
Kasuka nodded, then felt like that wasn’t enough and verbalised it with, “Yes.”
A wave of relief crashed over him at the following reply, and his shoulder relaxed and he felt like he could smile again.
“I’d love to!”
Our muses are destined to be a murderous team
A girl lying on the flaw, her eyes wide and terrified. Gently, a hand traced over her jaw, taking care not to move her head even if it would no longer make any difference. It stroked the soft skin as though he were her lover, and he was so caught up in looking down at her and admiring his work that he didn’t realise someone had approached until a hand dropped on his shoulder.
“Kasuka, we have to go, hurry up,” Shizuo said, looking from the girl and to his brother again. She seemed to shake even more, if that were possible, and a sigh of disappointment escaped the younger. The knife in his free hand traced down her front and he clenched the weapon tighter in his hand for a moment, before spinning it and holding the handle out to the blond.
After it was taken, he stood and brushed himself off, moving out of the way and stood so he was near the end of the alleyway they hid in - cliché, but a good spot to hide from prying eyes. Shizuo leant down and took his former seat in his place, leaning over the girl with the still gleaming knife in hand.
They were different in both personality and their enjoyments. Whilst Kasuka preferred to play whilst they were alive, Shizuo liked being there at the end.
“You might want to hurry, nii-san,” he reiterated, glancing back for just a second. Slowly, it was getting lighter and already he could hear the sounds of the city starting back up again. It was with a nod that Shizuo quickened his pace, only slightly; especially since he had been the one to initially point out the need for a faster pace.
After turning away again, Kasuka listened to the sound of the girl’s breath quickening, her pained whimpers and then finally, silence. After that there were rustling clothes and the sound of footsteps, and then a hand on his shoulder.
“Time to go,” was grunted, and the younger nodded, trailing behind his brother without looking back at the one they had left behind.
(She’s dead weight now anyway.)
“Are you feeling better now?” Kasuka asked, walking close enough beside Shizuo so that their arms brushed as they walked, and although the city was waking up, it was still quiet enough that they could enjoy it without gaining a headache from all the noise, used to it as they were.
He received a grunt in reply, and against everything he had taught himself, Kasuka smiled. An arm wrapped around his shoulder and pulled him into the other’s side and it was warm and a comforting, familiar position to be in.
“Good. I’m glad.”
Our muses are destined to meet in an Emergency waiting room
Somehow, Shizuo had managed to do it again. Although they had both been of the belief that he was past the stage of hurting himself due to picking up more than he could handle, apparently that wasn’t true. Far from it. Once more he has broken another bone – though this one Kasuka didn’t know the whereabouts of, and he was left waiting in the emergency room again.
The teen’s leg bounced up and down anxiously as he waited. Even if he knew that Shizuo would be okay, seeing the white walls and doctors running around frantically would cause worry for anyone, more so if they were waiting for a family member. It wasn’t something that he could help.
“Carry on doing that and you’ll end up hurting yourself instead, you know,”
Kasuka glanced up at the one who spoke and saw a complete stranger with his hands in his pockets and an amused smirk on his face. There wasn’t much special about him, minus perhaps the curious eye colour that he sported.
“Sorry,” he replied on instinct, though didn’t exactly have a reason to do so. “I can’t help it.” And if that wasn’t obvious… He wasn’t the only one who looked nervous around here after all.
The other’s amused look just increased even more.
“No worries, no worries! I know you’re just worried about Shizu-chan,” That made the teen start rather violently, especially since there was someone other than he and Shinra here waiting for his elder brother.
“Are you friends with my brother..?” He asked, almost sounding perplexed. The only other person that Shizuo spoke of was someone he hated (that damn flea I’m going to kill him!) and Kasuka couldn’t imagine that someone whom his brother despised so much would come and visit him in hospital.
With a hum, the red-eyed stranger said, “Not friends. I don’t think I could ever be friends with a monster like him—!”
a monster.
That was the only part of the sentence that Kasuka heard, and his fists clenched tightly in his lap. After a moment of silence, he stood up, looking straight at the stranger with an unimpressed look.
“I would appreciate it if you didn’t call brother a monster, and if you aren’t his friend, then please stop speaking to me. I’m not happy to be friendly with someone who calls him that.”
And the other laughed, as though Kasuka’s words were the most amusing thing he had ever heard. Kasuka decided he didn’t like this stranger much at all.
